Intermot Motorcycle Show postponed to 2027

One of Europe’s largest motorcycle trade shows, Intermot, has been rescheduled to February 2027. The decision was taken by the Industrie-Verband Motorrad (IVM) in partnership with event organisers Koelnmesse.

Shifting the Cologne-based exhibition away from its traditional late-year slot is significant. In recent editions, Intermot has been positioned close to EICMA, which has increasingly established itself as the dominant global motorcycle expo. By moving to February, Intermot clearly avoids a direct calendar clash and gives itself more breathing room in the international show schedule.

The new timing also separates the event from the UK’s Motorcycle Live (MCL), further reducing overlap with other major European exhibitions. Strategically, this repositioning could allow manufacturers and media to give Intermot more focused attention rather than treating it as part of a crowded end-of-year launch cycle.

There is also a commercial angle. February sits at a point in the calendar when motorcycle sales are often slower, particularly in colder European markets. Hosting a major trade fair during this period could help stimulate early-season interest and generate momentum ahead of the spring buying surge. The move has reportedly been supported by key manufacturers including Honda, Yamaha Motor Company and Royal Enfield.

Intermot is now scheduled to take place from 12–14 February 2027. While it has long been an important fixture within Germany’s motorcycle industry calendar, the IVM’s decision signals a clear intent to reinforce the show’s relevance and ensure it remains one of Europe’s leading two-wheel exhibitions in the years ahead.
