The New Zealand Superbike Championship has secured a new naming rights partner, with Better Finance taking over from Star Insure ahead of the 2027 season.
The New Zealand Superbike Championship will enter the 2027 season under a new name, with Better Finance confirmed as the series’ naming rights sponsor.
The country’s premier road racing championship will officially become the better finance™ New Zealand Superbike Championship, marking the start of a new partnership with the fast-growing New Zealand finance company.
Founded by managing director Sam Cavanagh, Better Finance specialises in vehicle, personal and business asset lending. The company says it has helped more than 60,000 New Zealanders secure finance and has settled more than $1 billion in lending.
Championship promoter Mike Marsden believes the partnership is a natural fit for a series that has continued to grow in recent seasons.

Cavanagh said attending MotoFest and following the 2026 championship convinced him the series was heading in the right direction.
“I received very positive feedback from the Christchurch round before attending the MotoFest Bike Show, where I was able to experience the championship first-hand,” he said.
“Seeing the motorcycle industry, competitors and fans all come together at such a professionally presented event was incredibly impressive. The atmosphere, the quality of the racing and the overall event experience demonstrated the exciting direction the championship is heading.
“The momentum behind NZSBK really stood out to me, and it made the decision to become involved an easy one.”
The announcement follows Star Insure’s decision to step away from the championship naming rights after several successful seasons.
However, the insurance company will remain closely involved with the series as the naming rights sponsor of the Star Insure MotoFest Bike Show.
“Star Insure has been a valued and loyal supporter of NZSBK, and we’re delighted they remain part of the championship through the MotoFest Bike Show,” Marsden said.
“Their continued involvement reflects the value they see in the event and the direction the championship is heading.”
Bridgestone continues as the championship’s Official Tyre and Presenting Partner.
The 2027 better finance™ New Zealand Superbike Championship will consist of three rounds, beginning at Levels Raceway on January 21-23 before moving to Ruapuna Raceway on January 29-31. The championship concludes at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on March 5-7.
Across the season, seven championship classes will contest 84 races, cementing NZSBK’s place as New Zealand’s premier motorcycle road racing championship.
