Limited-edition BMW M1000RR Isle of Man TT unveiled

  • Limited to just 115 units worldwide
  • Gets loaded with carbon-fibre components
  • No changes to the 999cc inline-four engine

BMW Motorrad has revealed a special-edition version of its flagship superbike to commemorate the 115th running of the Isle of Man TT, celebrating the marque’s deep-rooted connection with one of motorcycle racing’s most iconic events.

Named the M1000RR Limited Edition Isle of Man TT, the exclusive model will be restricted to just 115 units worldwide. Based on BMW’s top-spec M1000RR M Competition variant, the motorcycle arrives fully equipped with M Competition trim, albeit without a pillion package, and is set to be displayed at this year’s Tourist Trophy event.

The limited-edition machine has been designed as a tribute to BMW’s history on the Mountain Course, featuring a bespoke British Racing Green Uni Matt finish paired with graphics inspired by the Isle of Man circuit itself. In a unique design touch, left-hand bends from the course are illustrated along the left side of the fairing, while right-hand corners are mirrored on the opposite side.

Further visual details distinguish the motorcycle from the standard M1000RR. A matt carbon-fibre airbox cover carries Isle of Man TT branding alongside Mountain Course graphics, while an Alcantara seat, satin chrome-painted aluminium fuel tank and black swingarm reinforce its premium, collector-focused identity. Each bike will also feature individually milled numbering on the top yoke and come supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Mechanically, however, BMW has left the package untouched. That means the limited-edition model retains the same formidable performance credentials as the standard M1000RR, including its 999cc ShiftCam-equipped inline-four engine producing 214bhp. Buyers also receive the same sophisticated chassis and electronics suite, featuring advanced rider aids such as slide control for managing rear-wheel movement both under acceleration and braking.

Commenting on the launch, BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch said the model reflects the company’s racing heritage and connection to the TT. “Racing is part of BMW Motorrad’s DNA. This model bridges our successful TT heritage and our M models, and is a strong expression of racing DNA, technical precision and exclusivity,” he said.

In addition to the motorcycle itself, owners will receive several track-focused extras as standard, including a rear paddock stand, assembly stand mounts, a race cover kit and a branded environmental mat featuring both M and TT logos.

BMW’s involvement with the Isle of Man TT stretches back decades. The German manufacturer claimed its first victory on the island in 1939, when Georg Meier won the Senior TT aboard the supercharged RS 255 Kompressor. More recently, BMW machinery has become a consistent force in the event’s premier classes. Michael Dunlop delivered a landmark Superbike victory aboard the S1000RR in 2014, just five years after the model first entered production.

The brand’s success continued in the years that followed, including Peter Hickman’s dominant 2022 campaign, where he secured victories in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races. Hickman later set the current outright Isle of Man TT lap record in 2023 aboard an M1000RR-based Superstock machine, averaging an astonishing 136.358mph, approximately 219.45kmph.

For collectors and BMW enthusiasts alike, the M1000RR Limited Edition Isle of Man TT represents more than a cosmetic special edition. It serves as a rolling tribute to the manufacturer’s enduring relationship with road racing’s most demanding stage.
