BMW Motorrad is gearing up for the launch of the F 450 GS in global markets, but that’s just the beginning. The brand is reportedly expanding its new 450cc platform with two more models, the F 450 R and F 450 RR, both expected to debut around EICMA 2026, at least in concept or near-production form.
BMW appears to be betting heavily on this new platform, especially after phasing out models like the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS in most markets. Those bikes were key volume drivers, and the new F 450 range is expected to fill that gap while offering a more premium, performance-oriented step-up. The F 450 GS itself is likely to be positioned as an entry point into the brand.

The F 450 R will serve as the street-naked version, powered by the same 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing around 48bhp and 43Nm, as seen in the GS. BMW is expected to tweak gearing and tuning to better suit urban and spirited road use, and it will likely sit slightly below the GS in the pricing hierarchy.
Meanwhile, the F 450 RR will take things in a sportier direction. Essentially a fully faired version of the R, it is expected to feature clip-on handlebars, more aggressive ergonomics, and sharper styling. It will enter the growing entry-level supersport segment, going up against rivals like the Aprilia RS 457 and Kawasaki Ninja 500. With this three-bike strategy, BMW is clearly aiming to build a strong, versatile presence in the sub-500cc segment, covering adventure, naked, and supersport categories on a single platform.
