BMW F450 GS launch timeline confirmed!

  • To arrive in global markets by August 2026
  • Likely to be launched in New Zealand and Australia in second half of the year

BMW Motorrad has confirmed the arrival of its long-rumoured F 450 GS, moving the model beyond concept teasers and patent sketches into full production reality. BMW Group India has announced that the new 450cc adventure motorcycle will debut in the first half of 2026, aligning with growing global anticipation for the bike.

While the confirmation came from India, BMW has made it clear that the F 450 GS is a global model, not a market-specific project. According to the brand, the new 450cc twin will play a key role in the brand’s next phase of growth and help sustain BMW Motorrad’s current double-digit sales momentum.

The significance of the F 450 GS goes beyond sales numbers. It represents BMW’s second major push to broaden its reach after the mixed response to the 310 Series, which some buyers felt did not fully justify their premium pricing. Despite that feedback, BMW has no plans to dilute its positioning. The company has ruled out budget-led compromises, maintaining that every BMW motorcycle must continue to deliver a distinctly premium experience.

The new 450cc platform is expected to strengthen BMW’s foothold in the mid-capacity premium segment, a category the company sees as offering greater long-term potential than high-end superbikes. In many markets, demand continues to be driven by experienced urban riders rather than buyers stepping up to litre-class machines. That trend increasingly applies worldwide, where riders are prioritising approachability and everyday usability.

In BMW’s adventure lineup, the F 450 GS will sit between the G 310 GS and the larger F 850 GS and F 900 GS models. Positioned as a true entry-level GS, it is expected to feature a parallel-twin engine of around 450cc, producing roughly 45 horsepower. This output aligns neatly with A2 licence requirements in Europe, underlining the bike’s global development focus rather than a single-market strategy.

While BMW has yet to confirm launch timelines for Australia and New Zealand, the expected global rollout in 2026 suggests the F 450 GS could arrive in local dealerships towards the end of the year. If so, it would enter the market as a direct competitor to models such as the CFMoto 450 MT, currently one of the strongest sellers in the segment.
