Honda CB1000 Hornet SP launched in NZ; priced from $22,995

  • Now available in New Zealand
  • Offers a 156bhp engine and top-spec parts
  • Only available in SP variant

Honda has officially launched the CB1000 Hornet in New Zealand, priced from $22,995. The motorcycle is available in the top-spec SP variant.

The new flagship naked is powered by a 999cc inline-four engine derived from the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade. In standard trim, the motor produces 150bhp at 11,000rpm and 104Nm of torque at 9,000rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch as standard. However, the SP features a revised engine outputting around 156bhp and 107Nm, along with higher-spec components throughout.

Suspension is upgraded to fully adjustable Showa SFF-BP forks and an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock, while braking is handled by Brembo Stylema calipers. A two-way quickshifter is also included as standard. Visually, the SP stands apart with a matte black finish, complemented by gold-coloured forks and wheels.

Electronic rider aids are handled via throttle-by-wire, which enables three ride modes with preset settings for power delivery, wheelie control, traction control and engine braking. Riders also have the option to fine-tune these parameters to suit their preferences. All information is displayed on a five-inch TFT screen, which supports smartphone connectivity.
