Ducati officially unveils Desmo450 MX Factory

  • Uses a 449cc single-cylinder engine
  • Fitted with top-spec components
  • No word about global launch yet

Ducati has officially unveiled the Desmo450 MX Factory, marking a significant step forward in the Italian brand’s motocross ambitions.

Powering the new MX Factory is a 449.6cc single-cylinder engine featuring Ducati’s trademark Desmodromic valve system. The motor produces 63.5hp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm, and is housed within a lightweight aluminium frame. A full titanium Akrapovič exhaust comes fitted as standard, while a holeshot device has been included to improve acceleration off the start line.

Despite its high-performance hardware, the Desmo450 MX Factory remains impressively light. Ducati claims a wet weight of just 104kg (without fuel), delivering a strong power-to-weight ratio aimed at tight and technical motocross tracks. The low mass has been achieved through extensive use of machined components and titanium parts.

Suspension duties are handled by Showa units at both ends, featuring Dark Kashima and TiO coatings to improve durability and performance. The setup is fully adjustable and designed to cope with demanding motocross conditions, including berms, whoops and high-impact jumps.

Braking hardware comes from Brembo, paired with Galfer discs, while the electronics package stands out in the segment. Rider aids include Ducati Traction Control, Power Launch, Quick Shift and adjustable engine brake control — features rarely found on production motocross motorcycles.

Visually, the Desmo450 MX Factory is finished in a striking Ducati Corse race livery, reinforcing its factory-bred credentials. The new Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory is expected to reach international markets in the near future, although details regarding a global launch have yet to be confirmed.
