CFMoto introduces new 1000MT-X; NZ launch soon?

  • Comes with familiar design language
  • Uses a 946cc, parallel-twin engine
  • NZ and AUS launch likely soon

CFMoto has unveiled the 1000MT-X, a new flagship adventure tourer that pushes the brand’s MT range into big-capacity territory while remaining nimble enough for city riding. Designed for serious long-distance travel, the 1000MT-X blends performance, practicality, and refinement in equal measure.

At its core is a 946.2cc parallel-twin engine that produces 110bhp and 105Nm of torque, managed by Bosch’s MSE 9.0 EFI system for crisp, predictable throttle response. The lightweight alloy crankcase and precision-engineered camshafts help keep the powerplant’s weight to just 56kg, contributing to an overall dry weight of 199kg,  a figure that promises agility without compromising stability on long hauls.

Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable KYB units, while braking is managed by Brembo callipers working in tandem with cornering ABS. A 6-axis Bosch IMU brings modern riding aids such as five selectable modes and dynamic traction control. Meanwhile, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres strike a balance between tarmac grip and trail durability. The setup is mounted to a steel frame and 7-series aerospace-grade aluminium rims, known for their exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.

Riders are greeted by an 8-inch impact-resistant TFT display that serves as the control hub for most electronic systems. A 22.5-litre fuel tank promises over 450km of range under mixed riding conditions, ensuring fewer fuel stops on cross-country rides.

Comfort and convenience are clearly at the forefront: the 2-1 slim seat makes it easier to shift body position off-road, while the bike comes equipped with cruise control, a bi-directional quickshifter, heated grips, and a heated seat. Other thoughtful additions include TPMS, adjustable handlebars and windscreen, skid plate, handguards, and a chain guard, all designed to enhance durability and rider confidence on unpredictable terrain.

CFMoto also presented a special 1000MT-X Crafted edition, showcasing the model’s customisation potential. This version features bronze-finished forks and wheels, satin-grey engine covers, protective bars, and magnetic swingarm accents, hinting at a premium personalisation direction for the lineup.

While CFMoto hasn’t yet confirmed an Australia and New Zealand launch timeline, the 1000MT-X seems tailor-made for local conditions. Its 450km range, rider-focused ergonomics, and premium touring equipment make it an excellent step-up option for those graduating from the 650–700cc class. If CFMoto’s execution matches the promise on paper, the 1000MT-X could become one of the most compelling new entrants in the large-capacity adventure segment.
