Buell Motorcycles has officially begun production of its long-awaited 1190cc V-twin Super Cruiser, with the very first unit rolling off the assembly line at the company’s Michigan plant on Friday, September 26.
First unveiled as a concept in early 2023, the bold muscle cruiser has been through multiple prototype stages before finally reaching full production. To mark the occasion, Buell is donating the first completed model to the Barber Motorsports Museum, where it will be preserved as part of the company’s storied revival.
At the heart of the Super Cruiser is a 1190cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine shared with Buell’s Hammerhead 1190 and 1190SX siblings. It produces a claimed 172.6bhp and 94lb.ft of torque at 8,500rpm, numbers that should give serious thrust to its 220kg dry weight.
The engine sits within a steel trellis chassis, offering a distinctive departure from Buell’s sportier models. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels for versatile tyre choice, paired with upside-down Fox forks and a monoshock at the rear, a setup designed to balance muscle-bike stance with road-biased handling.
The bike is positioned to challenge rivals like Harley-Davidson while signalling the rebirth of Buell as a serious contender on the global stage. However, there is no word about it being launch in global markets yet.
