2026 Kawasaki Z650 RS unveiled; gets new colours

  • Gets new colour options
  • No changes to mechanicals
  • NZ launch unconfirmed

Kawasaki has rolled out the 2026 Z650RS for global markets, adding new colour options to its palette as part of the update.

Originally unveiled in 2022, the Z650RS was presented as a modern-day tribute to the 1970s Z650-B1, a machine Kawasaki described as a “retrovolution.” Four years later, the bike retains its retro styling with modern features. For 2026, its appeal has been further refreshed with three new paint schemes: Ebony, Metallic Ocean Blue, and Candy Emerald Green.

The MY26 version retains the features of the previous model, which include ABS, two-mode traction control, and an assist and slipper clutch. Performance remains unchanged too. The 649cc, parallel-twin engine continues to produce 67bhp at 8,000rpm and 47.2lb-ft of torque.

The suspension setup is also familiar, with 41mm traditional telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable horizontal back-link unit at the rear. Braking duties are handled by twin 300mm front discs with Nissin dual-piston semi-floating callipers, paired with a 220mm rear disc.

The Z650RS keeps its practical specifications too: a 12-litre fuel tank, 820mm seat height, 125mm ground clearance, and an estimated dry weight of 174kg. In short, while there are no mechanical or technical upgrades for 2026, the refreshed styling helps Kawasaki’s neo-retro middleweight stay relevant and appealing in the modern market.

Now, whether or not Kawasaki will bring the 2026 Z650 RS to Australia and New Zealand is yet to be known.
