- To be showcased at the Catalan GP
- Will be available in limited numbers
- Fifth iteration of the X model range
Aprilia is scheduled to showcase a new, special motorcycle at the Catalan Grand Prix this weekend. And as we reported earlier, the model will be called the X GP and limited to a handful of units globally.
Like the rest of the X models from Aprilia’s stable in the past, the X GP will not only be ultra rare, it will also come with MotoGP-derived tech. In a statement, Aprilia Racing confirmed: “This weekend will also feature a special event. On Friday evening, the new X will be unveiled as an exclusive, limited edition bike created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the RS-GP’s first appearance in the premier class of MotoGP.”

The project first came to light earlier this year when Aprilia’s parent company, Piaggio, filed new trademarks under the ‘X GP’ name. Once launched, the bike will become the fifth model in the brand’s X lineup, following the RSV4 X, Tuono V4 X, RSV4 XTrenta, and the ultra-rare RSV4 X ex3ma, the latter limited to just 30 units. The ex3ma borrowed heavily from Aprilia’s factory MotoGP programme, transferring race-derived technology into a road-legal package.
Given its commemorative nature, the new X GP is expected to follow a similar path, blending advanced engineering from premier-class racing efforts with the exclusivity that has come to define the X series.
That said, the special-edition Aprilia X GP will not be launched in New Zealand.
