New Triumph Thruxton 400 spotted undisguised!

  • Global debut likely next month
  • Based on the same Speed 400 platform
  • Could be introduced in NZ and AUS by 2026

Triumph’s upcoming Thruxton 400 has been spotted in the wild, ahead of its official global debut. The retro-styled motorcycle was seen during a TV commercial shoot in India, giving enthusiasts an early glimpse of what’s to come.

The Thruxton 400 will be the fifth model in Triumph’s expanding 400cc line-up, joining the Speed 400, Scrambler 400, Speed T4, and Scrambler 400 XC. According to reports, the bike is expected to be introduced in August 2025, positioned at the top end of the brand’s 400cc segment.

The standout feature is undoubtedly its retro racer-style semi-fairing, inspired by Triumph’s larger Thruxton models. This distinctive design is complemented by bar-end mirrors and a racy rear-seat cowl, giving it a proper café racer stance. The spied unit sports a striking dual-tone red and silver livery, while the rest of the bodywork and underpinnings appear to be shared with the Speed 400.

Under the fairing, the Thruxton 400 will use the same 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine found across Triumph’s 400cc range. Expect figures of 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine is renowned for its tractability, smoothness, and strong mid-range punch. Triumph is likely to fine-tune the final drive ratio to better suit the Thruxton’s sporty character. On the tech front, expect a familiar list of features from the Speed 400, including LED lighting, switchable ABS and traction control, and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

With its heritage-inspired styling and modern underpinnings, the Thruxton 400 looks set to bring a fresh retro flavour to the midsize motorcycle segment. Triumph is likely to bring in the highly-anticipated Thruxton 400 to New Zealand and Australia by early 2026.
