New KTM 2026 690 Enduro R details revealed

  • To be launched globally next year
  • Comes with significant tech updates
  • Could be introduced in NZ in 2026

KTM have revealed further insights into their forthcoming 2026 690 Enduro R, with expectations that the bike will be launched globally early next year.

The Austrian marque gave enthusiasts a glimpse of the updated big-bore trail bike during this year’s Adventure Bike Rider Festival. While they remained cautious about sharing complete specifications, several notable updates were disclosed. One of the headline changes is a major overhaul of the single-cylinder LC4 engine. Around 50% of its components are either new or updated, contributing to a claimed increase in torque over the outgoing model’s 73.4Nm. However, exact performance figures remain under wraps for now.

KTM have also refined the chassis, claiming enhancements in both feel and rigidity. Ergonomic update including tweaks to the bodywork, have been made, too, though these changes are described as evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

A significant tech upgrade comes in the form of a new 4.2-inch TFT display, replacing the older LCD unit. This new screen enables smartphone pairing through KTM’s connectivity system, allowing riders to take calls, use turn-by-turn navigation, and play music. A USB-C port has also been added for on-the-go charging. Electronics get a boost for 2026 with the introduction of cornering ABS, cornering traction control, and a trio of ride modes: Street, Sport, and the optionally available Rally setting.

Finally, the switchgear has been completely redesigned to enhance ergonomics. Backlit buttons make their debut, and the left-hand switch cluster now includes a dedicated ABS-Off toggle for added rider control.

We can expect KTM to introduce the new 690 Enduro R in Australia and New Zealand by mid-2026.
