Indian Motorcycle has unveiled the new Sport Chief RT, adding to the six-bike Chief model range. The RT is based on the India Sport but comes with otherwise traditional aftermarket goodies, as standard fitment.
The new accessories give it a custom look and save the company hours of work on the drawing board. It comes with a 37-litre rigid saddlebags that are lockable and can fit a full set of riding gear sans the helmet. You can either have it colour-matched or in a textured black finish. The Sport Chief RT also gets a new seat that can be added as an accessory across the Chief range.
The riding position has also been tweaked and the RT comes with forward-mounted pegs for comfort and flat bars with 152mm machined risers. Then there is a quarter fairing around it with a 165mm screen that can be extended to 254mm if preferred. Indian is also offering a new PowerBand Audio Bluetooth speaker system as an accessory that includes 65mm mid-range speakers and a 100mm subwoofer. Music can be controlled via the 101mm circular TFT display which is touch-sensitive or the switchgear buttons. The system offers access to rider modes, keyless ignition, cruise control, ABS, LED lighting and a USB charging port.
To complete the look, the Indian Sport Chief RT rides on Metzeler Cruisetec tyres wrapped around a 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheel. And between these lies an 1890cc V-twin that Indian calls the Thunderstroke. It produces 155Nm at just 3300rpm, comes with a six-speed gearbox and transfers power to the rear wheel via a belt drive. However, the figures are slightly lower than the 2024 Sport Chief which produces around 161Nm at a slightly lower 3200rpm.
As for cycle parts, the new Indian Sport Chief RT uses upside-down KYB forks like the standard model. However, the rear gets a pair of Fox piggyback shocks with 23 clicks of compression and rebound adjustment. Braking is done by four-piston Brembo calipers up front and 320mm discs.
With the motorcycle made available in international markets, we can expect Indian Motorcycle to launch the new Sport Chief RT in Australia and New Zealand sometime this year.
