Over the weekend, Ducati lifted the covers off it’s new Multistrada Enduro, powered by a new 1262cc Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine, along with major chassis and electronics upgrades. Identifiable by an all-new colour scheme, the new Euro-4 compliant motor develops outstanding pulling power – with 85% of maximum torque available below 3500rpm, and 17% more than the previous model at 5500rpm.
A 5-inch TFT colour display puts everything right in front of the rider, even featuring a Bluetooth connection to allow key multimedia and call functions from a smartphone. Control of the bike’s settings are easily accessed via a switchgear placed toggle; the Multistrada 1260 Enduro features a new 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to assess ABS Cornering, Cornering Lights, Traction Control, and Wheelie Control. Riders can choose from eight different levels of DWC and DTC activation, or simply deactivate the assists.
Semi-active electronic Sachs suspension (with 185mm travel front and rear) helps keep the 158hp output from the motor well planted, via the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel. Selectable Rider Modes and Ride-By-Wire allow the throttle sensitivity to be tailored to suit rider style, for any type of terrain that the 450km capable, 30-litre fuel tank allows.
