Yamaha has lifted the covers off the 2026 XSR900 GP, a stunning tribute to one of motorcycle racing’s most iconic figures, ‘King’ Kenny Roberts. The special edition blends Yamaha’s Grand Prix heritage with modern-day performance, bringing a nostalgic yet fresh flavour to the brand’s Sport Heritage lineup.
At the heart of Yamaha’s retro-inspired range, the XSR900 GP channels the look and feel of the brand’s Grand Prix racers from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Based on the familiar CP3-powered XSR900 platform, the new GP variant trades minimalist street styling for fairings and details reminiscent of racing’s golden era.
For 2026, Yamaha’s designers have drawn direct inspiration from Kenny Roberts, the first American rider ever to win a 500cc World Championship. Between 1978 and 1980, Roberts claimed three consecutive world titles, redefining the limits of what a GP racer could achieve and cementing his name as one of Yamaha’s all-time greats.
The new XSR900 GP celebrates that legacy with a Legend Yellow livery, a faithful homage to the YZR500 that carried Roberts to glory. The unmistakable black Yamaha speedblocks streak across the fairings, combining classic race-bike design cues with a sharper, modern edge.
Beneath the retro bodywork lies the proven 890cc CP3 triple-cylinder engine, delivering the same torque-rich character and refined electronics found on the standard XSR900. Though mechanically unchanged, the GP distinguishes itself through its evocative styling and purposeful stance.
The 2026 XSR900 GP will be available in Legend Yellow and Legend Red, with global deliveries to begin next year.
