2026 Honda CB1000F Launch: Retro-Inspired Naked Roadster with Fireblade Heart

  • Honda revives classic eighties CB style with the 2026 CB1000F – a retro-inspired naked using the Fireblade-derived 1000cc engine.
  • Combines modern tech – 5-inch TFT, IMU, multiple riding modes – with 1980s-inspired design and everyday comfort.
  • No word if we’d get it in NZ, but overseas will see three colours and accessory packs for Sports, Comfort, and Travel versatility.

Honda officially unveils retro-style CB1000F for 2026 and this is possibly the bike that the BRM team want in the shed next year!

With ‘concept’ versions recently displayed at Suzuka 8 Hours and small capacity Honda CB500 Super Four versions already revealed, it was only a matter of time before details of the new modern retro were officially released, and this is possibly one of the most highly anticipated Honda models we’ve seen for some time.

Taking inspiration from the legendary CB line that was the Superbike of the eighties, the 2026 CB1000F is a retro-inspired naked roadster that blends iconic 1980s styling with modern performance and technology. Based on the acclaimed CB1000 Hornet platform (which is excellent), the CB1000F features a retuned inline four-cylinder engine derived from the Fireblade, designed to deliver a punchy and characterful ride focused on low- and mid-range torque.

Modern Classic

Claimed to be a “Balanced Roadster,” Honda has designed the new CB1000F so that it combines agile handling with the feel of a big bike – and it certainly looks like a big bike in the pictures until you actually see someone sitting on it. With the Hornet chassis meaning the new CB1000F should be accessibly to all sizes, they’ve done a good job with the styling to give the new CB the imposing look of the machines from yesteryear while being much more manageable for riders.

The old-school style is helped by the retro bodywork sitting over the diamond-style frame and long subframe, while adjustable Showa SFF-BP USD front forks with Pro-Link rear shock should deliver a comfortable (and much more modern) ride for both rider and pillion, while four-piston radial-mount brakes with 310mm floating discs and Cornering ABS provide confident stopping power.

Honda has also equipped the CB1000F with modern electronics, including a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Throttle By Wire with three riding modes plus two custom USER modes, and HSTC traction control. The five-inch optically bonded TFT display offers Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, and the Smart Key system simplifies ignition and security. We’re hoping that any TC or wheelie control can be turned off because, well, just look at it! This bike is guaranteed to be a whole heap of fun!

The CB1000F wears classic retro graphics inspired by Freddie Spencer’s AMA race bikes, with three ‘evocative’ colour options: Wolf Silver Metallic with Blue or Grey Stripe, and Graphite Black. Honda has also got ahead of the accessory curve by announcing they’ll have a range available via curated Sports, Comfort, and Travel Packs to enhance style, performance, and practicality.

Sporty Intentions

With a 1000cc DOHC inline-four engine producing 122hp/91kW at 9,000rpm and 103Nm at 8,000rpm, plus a 16L fuel tank delivering a potential 280km range, the CB1000F should balance spirited performance with everyday usability. And the fact the seat height is an accessible 795mm combined with the upright riding position, should make the new CB1000F appeal to a variety of riders.

With lightweight 17-inch cast aluminium wheels and sporty suspension geometry to ensure confidence-inspiring handling, the new 2026 Honda CB1000F should be a stylish, characterful, and versatile naked roadster that honours the CB legacy while providing modern comfort and performance for today’s riders.

Like the modern classic genre that’s taken motorcycling by storm in recent years, the new CB1000F has that classic styling mixed with modern tech but should also be a thoroughly fun bike to tackle a weekend scratch or a mid-week commute. We seriously cannot wait to ride one if they bring them in to NZ!

BRM Verdict

Retro style meets modern tech – the CB1000F is a balanced, fun, and highly usable naked roadster.
