Evergreen champion Hugh Anderson is embarking on a five-week tour of Europe that does include VIP duties such as demo laps on the likes of an MV Agusta six-cylinder GP bike but the main thrust of his latest endurance effort is to satisfy demand for his autobiography ‘Being There’. The original print run here in NZ is sold out, so to meet demand offshore, he has printed another run, to be sold during what he described as his last hurrah – “No more big trips for me. Even this one is a bit tough on my wife.”

Anderson’s tour starts at the Cholmodeley Pageant Of Power festival in the UK before heading to the Sachsenring Ring (where he was a former lap record holder and regular competitor when it was part of East Germany) for the massive classic festival there on June 19-21 before heading to Belgium for the Spa Francochamps Classic event in July.

Anyone here in NZ wanting to get hold of a copy needs to get hold of Hugh now at [email protected] as when BRM spoke to the man, he had 47 copies left, “then that’s it really.” Last chance to own a wonderful and poignant book about a wonderful, tragic and significant era of motorsport, written by a Kiwi icon.
