Some revealing stats on the ACC levies issue

Just a few interesting facts from the ACC injury statistics from ACC's own website. Incidentally, these are the same statistics the minister Nick Smith has been using to show the public what a bunch of accident-prone, blood-sucking, good-for-nothing scum all motorcyclists are, justifying more than doubling our registration costs!

• Driving/Passenger-Motorcycle. New claims 1998-2009. 57% Increase.
• Total new claims, Road, All Causes 1998-2008 - 57% Increase (so car and truck claims have increased as much as motorcycle-related claims).
• Motorcycle Driving/Passenger. All claims cost in 2008 $62,545,000 (remember this will include claims involving non-registered bikes).
• Driving/Passenger Car, All claims cost in 2008 $208,343,000.
• Claims for 'Self' as cause of injury in 2008 $80,758,000. (people who stubbed their toe or cut themselves etc.)
• Claims for 'Sports Equipment' or 'Ball' as cause of injury. 123% Increase.
• Claims for 'Animal, live Cattle' as cause of injury. 1998-2008. 153% increase.
• Claims for 'Animal, Sheep' as cause of injury. 1998-2008. 44% increase.
• Claims for 'Environment', Ice/Wind/Snow/Water etc. as cause of injury. 1998-2008. 339% increase!
• Claims for 'Floor' as cause of injury. 1998-2008. 115% increase (total cost of $52,008,000).
• Claims for 'Ground/Path' as cause of injury. 1998-2008 170% increase (total cost $266,212,000! - over four times the cost of all motorcycle-related claims)
• Claims for 'Health Professional' as cause of injury. 1998-2008 335% increase! (total cost of $61,179,000 - only just less than all motorcycle costs).

The politicians aren't very bright folks, get out there and spread the word, contact your local MP and make submissions.
