2009 NEW ZEALAND POST CLASSIC GRAND PRIX.

This Saturday 31 October 2009 at Taupo

The New Zealand Post Classic Racing Association is hosting their annual Grand Prix event at Taupo once again this year on Saturday the 31st of October.

This event promises to be really exciting with riders coming from all over the country to compete for their respective Grand Prix titles. As well as the Post Classic classes there is also racing for the BEARS and Pro-Twins, which last year proved to be an exciting watch. With few meetings during the year that include the BEARS they tend to roll out in good numbers for this event and with the Pro-Twins put on a really good show.

There is going to be a ‘Show and Shine’ display and competition which Vince Sharpe will judge. During the mid-programme break Vince will then lead the bikes in the competition for three laps of the circuit so spectators have the opportunity to see the beautiful motorcycles of the ‘post classic era’ looking at their best.

There will then be a ten minute window for those who would like to try their road bikes at speed around the track and then it will be back to business with racing.

Post Classic bikes were first run by the Auckland Motorcycle Club in New Zealand in 1994 at Pukekohe mixed with Clubmans. Then there were just four bikes. The NZPCRA now has one hundred and fourty active racing members with a total membership of just over two hundred with new people joining each year. The advantage of racing a bike of this class is of course that your bike will never become outdated for the class you are in and the friendships that result from a common interest within the club make for a fantastic social atmosphere.

Come to Taupo on the 31st of  October and feel the atmosphere that we enjoyed in the heyday of motorcycle racing from 1963 to 1989.
