HELMETS

Shoei
XR1000 Relic Helmet

My new Relic is pretty much the same design as my old XR1000 Diabolic TC1, which with its wind tunnel-proven high-speed performance and ventilation, was one of my favourite skid lids. The removable and washable cheek pads and the 3D comfort liner system, which doesn’t shift during high speed riding, all worked well on my Diabolic, and I’m sure they will on the Relic, just like the chin and forehead vents which both work very well at keeping my bonce cool and visor mist-free. Another facet of the XR1000 that appeals greatly is the fit, and with three shell sizes, and four sizes of EPS liners, there’s sure to be a size that’ll fit most riders. So if you want to look as cool as my good self, get down to your local Shoei dealer or give the guys at White’s Powersports a call.

Nitro
N810-VX Aerotech Helmet

The N810-VX is a fantastic helmet - the integrated Aerotech venting gives great styling and adjustable airflow through the helmet, while meeting the highest safety standards. I like how it fits nice on my head, has good bright colours so others can see me and isn’t too noisy when doing demerit point speeds – so I’ve been told. With features like the latest ECER22-05 standard and ACU Gold approved, fibreglass shell construction available in two sizes, removable and washable lining for hygiene and comfort just to name a few, the list is endless. It looks good, feels good, is good.

Arai
RX-7 Corsair Nicky Hayden Replica

This helmet is quite simply the dog’s danglies - I love it. I’ve always worn Arai helmets after I did a training course on them when I was a motorcycle accessory salesman in the UK and I discovered the amount of reseach and development that goes in to them. And also, I have an Arai-shaped head, which always helps. As you’d expect at this price, the internals are removable and cleanable, and can be changed in size for that bespoke fit. But the best part is the Pinlock visor system which allows me to have the visor shut no matter the weather without my breath steaming it up. It works like double glazing and I just couldn’t be without it.
